TextaParent
Below is some information in relation the ‘TextaParent’ communication system that we use in the school.
The aim of this project is to keep parents/guardians informed of important information, date or time changes of events and reminders of upcoming school related activities i.e. school tours, matches, concerts etc. We are hoping that it will be a more reliable way of communicating with parents than the ‘note home’ which many parents find often ends up in the bottom of the schoolbag. The ‘Text a Parent’ service however, will not replace long communications, which for the time being will be done by letter.
The system works in the following way: we send an email to a company who convert the message to text, sending it to those listed in our database. We can be selective in who we text i.e. Information about a Confirmation meeting will only go to parents of 6th Class children. Texting this way comes at a reduced rate – to text the parents of one class will cost approximately €1.50. The amount of photocopying will be reduced considerably and parents are guaranteed to get the message.
If parents do not have a mobile phone we are asking that they give us the number of a close friend or family member who has a mobile phone who can pass on the message.
