With the younger pupils, Catherine did ‘Magic Painting’  using different colourings and liquids.  The Senior Classes learnt through experimenting about Acids and Bases in Nature, Indicators and the PH Scale.

The CBOI performs regularly to sell out audiences in major venues across Ireland working with top professional musicians including Ireland’s premier conductor, Maestro Gearóid Grant, Tenor, Emmanuel Lawler and Uilleann Piper, Patrick Martin. The orchestra performs music of many genres, including specially commissioned works which celebrate the fusion of cultures on the island of Ireland. The CBOI has gained National and International acclaim for the exceptional opportunities, experiences and education it provides for thousands of young people.

Ms.Beattie worked tirelessly with the Pupils of 5th class in teaching a significant number of songs and attending rehearsals.  Pupils represented our School wonderfully on the night and Parent’s also thoroughly enjoyed the night’s entertainment.

The Young Americans are focused on providing music education and performance opportunities to young people around the world. The International Music Outreach Tours promote the importance of music education by bringing music workshops to 4th through 12th grade students around the world. The Young Americans College of the Performing Arts provides an innovative and creative learning environment that fosters artistic, intellectual and personal growth for those interested in becoming performers or arts educators.

Ms.Cafferkey invested huge time and energy in attending meetings and organising for our pupils to  be involved and it was all worth it when we saw our pupils performing on the Helix stage.

The Pupils have found it a great new experience and have impressed each other as well as Teachers with their ability to master new positions, follow instructions at the same time as exploring a new activity.

Yoga has been wonderful for focusing pupils attention and the feedback has been fully positive.

The Parents Association, once again had gone to great efforts in organising the Christmas Hampers, raffle and tea and coffee for the event.  Once again I would like to extend my gratitude to the Parents Association Volunteers, and also to everyone who donated prizes for the raffle and bought tickets.  Your support is greatly appreciated and all monies raised will go to buying resources for the pupils.

Dave, from the Magic of Music, along with all of the Teachers and Support staff had put weeks of preparation and rehearsal into preparing the Pupils for their performance of  ’Hosanna Rock’ and the children rose to the occasion in putting their full enthusiasm and talents on show for the audience.  All of the Staff were extremely proud of the efforts of the Pupils and in turn the Pupils enjoyed their performance.

We were also delighted to welcome back Fr.Gary, our outgoing Chairperson who has transferred to Malahide.  Pupils presented Fr.Gary with some small tokens of appreciation and also 5th and 6th class sang Silent Night in French, which they learned in their French lessons with Ms.Butler and Ms.Mulryan.  We wish Fr.Gary all the best in his new parish and sincerely thank him for all that he has done for Scoil Cholmcille during his time in Donaghmede.

The event was a great success.

We were also delighted to be invited to sing in the Raheny Nursing Home on Harmonstown Rd.  The School Choir sang songs for the Staff and Residents of the Nursing home to spread some Christmas Cheer.  The Choir received a great welcome and their talent was appreciated.

Pupils from St.Kevins joined us in the hall along with Parents and Grandparents to welcome the Sam Maguire.

Stephen Behan our GAA coach had organised the event which was recorded by TV3 for a documentary which will be shown over Christmas.

The excitement was palpable throughout the school.
